URBNSURF Updates Timeline of New Sydney Location

Following the successful launch of URBNSURF Melbourne in January 2020 and ongoing strong performance despite an aggregate 10 months of closure through the COVID-19 pandemic, construction of URBNSURF Sydney commenced in late 2021.

Based at Sydney Olympic Park, URBNSURF Sydney will offer surfers of all kinds and abilities an amazing surfing experience just like what has been delivered in Melbourne.

Construction of the Sydney facility has been impacted by unprecedented record rainfall and the ongoing dislocation in the construction industry. Sydney has experienced over two metres of rain so far in 2022, higher than ever previously recorded, and the construction industry has experienced escalating materials costs, procurement delays and labour shortages. Consequently, the launch of URBNSURF Sydney is expected to be delayed by 9 to 12 months until early 2024. If there are further unprecedented situations, we will keep our members, guests and supporters informed.

URBNSURF is absolutely committed to delivering an inclusive, incredible surf park experience in Sydney and adding to the 150,000 guests who have enjoyed URBNSURF Melbourne to date. Whilst the delay to launch is disappointing, it will allow the URBNSURF team to continue to better shape the user experience based on feedback, data and observations from the Melbourne facility.

We want to take this opportunity to thanks our members, guests and supporters around Australia and the world for their understanding and amazing positivity surrounding what URBNSURF has become to so many.
