The ‘Surf Park Industry Forum: Europe’ Brings Together Industry Leaders From Around the World

Munich, Germany – Surf Park Central is excited to share new details about its latest regional destination following meetings with industry leaders and companies focused on the surf-anchored real estate industry in Munich.

A surf park in Europe

The Surf Park Industry Forum: Europe brought together both industry veterans and newcomers to meet with wave technology leaders Endless Surf and new surf-anchored destination O2 SURFTOWN MUC. Attendees learned new insights into a sector now valued at around $4 billion and expanding at a 20%+ CAGR annually.

Europe will only grow as a surf destination as countries across the area are celebrating new surf parks with multiple other locations in the works and some beginning construction.

The Surf Park Industry Forum: Europe welcomed over 100 attendees from across the region and around the globe. The event kicked off on April 29 with a standing-room-only morning session at Munich’s Soller Business Hotel.

Highlights from the event include new consumer trends data and research from Surf Park Central CEO Jess Ponting in partnership with Colliers, a global investment management company. Industry veterans also emphasized the benefits of a multi-property strategy, which can improve access to financing and help turn these large-scale projects into reality.

Beyond the research, the developer-packed room heard directly from an impressive lineup of experienced, high-profile speakers. From current and former surf park CEOs to founders and visionaries, these industry leaders shared hard-won insights on everything from site selection and financing to construction and community engagement, offering attendees a rare chance to learn from those who have successfully brought surf destinations to life.

Speakers included:

  • Matt Hyslop, Co-lead, Destination Consulting Service at Colliers
  • Michi Mohr, Co-founder O2 SURFTOWN MUC
  • Chris Boehm-Tettelbach, CEO O2 SURFTOWN MUC
  • Hazel Geary, CEO, The Wave

With the European event in the books, all eyes now turn to Surf Park Summit, the largest annual gathering of the surf-anchored real estate industry. Hundreds of guests are expected to attend the event from November 5 to 7. This year’s summit will be held for the first time in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The new venue will support expanded networking opportunities and more robust conversations than ever before.
