Atlantic Park Leads Virginia Beach’s Surf Industry Swell with a Calendar of Events

Virginia Beach, Va. – (July 16, 2026) – Beginning next month, North America’s first Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon will help kick off a landmark series of surfing events that will cement Virginia Beach as the capital of East Coast surfing, including the East Coast Surfing Championships, Surf Park Summit, Super Girl Festival and back-to-back regional surfing tournaments.

Since opening last August, Atlantic Park Surf has become a transformative epicenter for surfing and entertainment, welcoming thousands of visitors from around the world. Most recently, it hosted Stab High Virginia Beach. The record-breaking event–the first to be held in the U.S. since 2019–brought together 56 professional surfers and nearly 3,500 spectators over two days of competition. The surf park has also established partnerships with world-renowned brands, including Dryrobe, Kona Big Wave, Rip Curl, SunBum, Toyota, U.S. Navy, Xtratuf and YETI,  elevating the visibility of Virginia Beach’s surf culture.

Inspired by Jason Borte’s acclaimed book, Virginia Is for Surfers, this special celebration–presented in partnership with WRV–captures the spirit of the Virginia Beach surfing community. The evening event brings together local surf legends, creatives and community members for an evening of live music from The Hookz, a panel discussion featuring Borte, fellow East Coast Hall of Famer Wes Laine and other Virginia Beach surf icons,  a film compilation of iconic surf footage, book signings and more. Sept. 1 | Second Annual Chlorine Clash Invitational

Atlantic Park Surf welcomes its second annual Chlorine Clash Invitational, featuring eight of the top-qualifying series surf competitors of the World Surf League. The entertaining and laid-back format consists of eight of the top WSL qualifying series Men & Women, including eight wild cards, who will be invited to compete head-to-head in a series of turn and barrel waves. Sept. 1-3 | Surf Park Summit

Sept. 3-4 | Lisa Andersen’s Champ Camp

This two-day, high-performance surf training camp is hosted exclusively by American four-time world surfing champion Lisa Andersen and East Coast Surfing Hall of Famer Jason Borte, Atlantic Park Surf’s Director of Coach Surfing. The camp offers six surf sessions designed to help athletes take their surfing to the next level. Highlights include one-on-one time with Andersen, a personalized skills assessment, insight into professional surfing as a career, and a group dinner and Q&A session with Andersen.
