SURF MANAGEMENT

SurfOne

SurfOne began with the idea of bringing performance data and telemetry to a sport that has never had it. After nearly 5 years of development and testing, for the first time, surfers and other board sport enthusiasts can see in detail how their body movements impact the movement of the board under their feet.

About SurfOne Services

Introducing SurfOne, the first-of-its-kind technology providing comprehensive telemetry data for surfing. With SurfOne, surfers can go beyond just videos of their rides, adding rich telemetry for speed, direction, flow, and power, offering unparalleled insights into their performance.

This innovation will offer the inaugural opportunity for wave parks to show surfers their rides and scores in instant replay. The integration of SurfOne with wave parks can unlock the ability to run daily, weekly, or monthly asynchronous competitions, thereby enhancing the overall experience and providing priceless memories to the surf park clientele.  It will also transform how competitions are judged by providing objective judging criteria in surf contests. Surf One enables data-driven coaching, allowing surfers to refine their techniques with unprecedented precision. SurfOne is setting a new standard by revolutionizing the surfing experience and elevating performance in sport to new heights.

After nearly 5 years of development and testing, for the first time, surfers and other board sport enthusiasts can see in detail how their body movements impact the movement of the board under their feet.  This opens a new world for training, coaching, judging, media broadcasts and spectator engagement. All contained in a zippo sized, board mounted sensor and an app on your phone.

Who benefits:

1. The beginner and intermediate surfers who need to gain an understanding of the paddling speed needed to catch a wave and the importance of maintaining speed to execute strong turns.

2. Competitive surfers who want to slow down their videos and analyze the data carefully, exposing exactly where on the wave they can improve speed, force of turns, flow, and the orientation of their board.

3. Surf Parks who can enhance the value proposition to their customers and the overall surf park experience in much the same way that has been done by companies like Top Golf and K1 Speed, where immediate performance feedback is provided to the participants.

4. Media broadcasts where wave specific performance statistics are nearly nonexistent.  Viewers’ experiences suffer when an event has no performance data and surfers are largely judged on subjective criteria that exists in a “black box” of interpretation and surf lingo.

5. Contest Judging Judging criteria at surf contest is, for the most part, subjective. Add to that the ever-changing ocean conditions inherent in most surf contests as well as the viewing distance judges deal with, and it’s no wonder professional surfing is experiencing a high number of judging controversies.  With a few key data points to back up what the judges are seeing, this problem can become much more manageable.

Summary:

 • Surf parks can leverage SurfOne to bring new depth to the services they offer customers. They can provide competition and advanced statistics for experienced surfers and attract first-time surfers by offering enhanced coaching services and a glimpse inside of what makes surfers great.

 • By opening a window into surfing’s mechanics of movement, we can draw a direct correlation to how the subtle movements of the surfer translate to how the board reacts and performs while a wave is ridden. This technology will impact how coaches coach and how surfers train, leading to improved skills and performance.

 • The SurfOne interface allows surfers to measure and track performances that can be replayed, reviewed in slow motion, compared with other surfers, and used in online, asynchronous competitions. The SurfOne platform will provide an entirely new way to access, relive, and engage with experiences, leading to more engagement, participation and growth of the sport.
