‘Surf London’s’ ambition to bring the first inland surfing and active leisure destination in a top five global capital city, has taken another huge step forward. The London Borough of Enfield has approved planning permission, subject to the referral of the application to the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the completion of a Section 106 Agreement and conditions. With the expectation that these final assessments will be successfully completed by the end of 2025, it is hoped that construction on this 104-acre parkland site in Edmonton, North London, will start in 2026.

Surf London will be located at the Lee Valley Leisure Complex, Edmonton, with a 200m wide surf lake at its heart and be immersed in additional sports and well-being activities. With a restaurant and café, unique event spaces and tranquil accommodation, it’s set to be a truly unique London destination that welcomes local, national and international business all year around. The community of Edmonton are set to benefit from this re-developed golf course and campsite, offering extensive free to access activity parklands, as well as discounts and benefits for the surfing and other sporting activities. In addition, Surf London is expected to create 50 full time and 150 part time jobs.

Hazel Geary, Crest Experiences CEO, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to the London Borough of Enfield for their support. We recognise that this is not final approval, and we’ll continue to work closely with the authorities to complete the application. This is a big milestone for Surf London, and we’re really excited to continue to progress the detailed planning so we are in a position to start construction next year.
