Urbnsurf Eyes Three New Surf Pool Projects In Australia

According to this end-of-year wrap from the crew at Urbnsurf, despite the Covid challenges of 2020, the Melbourne project was a smashing success. So much, in fact, they’re now eyeing three new surf pool locations for 2021 and beyond. Read below for the details:

URBNSURF is stoked to announce that it has welcomed over 100,000 guests to surf, learn and visit Australia’s first surf park in 2020, despite only trading for six months of the year due to COVID-19.

The company’s first surf park, URBNSURF Melbourne, opened at 309 Melrose Drive, Tullamarine on January 6th. After an incredible Summer season, the park closed twice before reopening in mid-October, and is now experiencing strong demand in the lead up to the New Year.

With Three Blue Ducks’ new restaurant now open and serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks daily, URBNSURF is welcoming guests from Melbourne, Victoria and around Australia to experience the ultimate Summer surf destination just minutes from Melbourne Airport.

“Despite a challenging 2020, we’re thrilled to have welcomed over 100,000 guests this year to experience URBNSURF Melbourne. In the face of a global pandemic, our loyal members, guests and the Victorian surfing community have backed us every step of the way, and we’re incredibly thankful for their support,” said URBNSURF CEO Damon Tudor. “I’m proud of our dedicated crew who have worked tirelessly to deliver authentic, memorable experiences at the park, develop new surf lesson programs and pathways, and open new amenities for everyone to enjoy,” he added.

Building on its Melbourne success, URBNSURF is now focusing on delivering its next project, URBNSURF Sydney, to be located at Sydney Olympic Park. The company has signed an agreement to acquire its second Wavegarden Cove and will collaborate with the Basque-based technology company to deliver a world-class surfing lagoon at Sydney’s home of Olympic sport.

URBNSURF is also progressing two new projects in Brisbane and Perth. Having identified key sites in prime locations, the company is now engaging with development partners and technology providers to deliver world-class surf parks in Queensland and Western Australia.

“We’re excited by the prospect of commencing construction on URBNSURF Sydney in 2021, and to have perfect, endless waves pumping at Sydney Olympic Park by Summer 2022/2023. In the meantime, we’d like to wish our members, guests, crew, stakeholders and brand partners a Happy Holidays, and look forward to catching up in the New Year,” said Damon.
