The park is a $75 million investment that will make Sydney an inland surf destination. It is projected to bring huge economic benefits to the area and is expected to bring in $250 million in the next few years.

URBNSURF Sydney will be Sydney’s first-ever wave park, set to open to the public in May 2024.

CEO Damon Tudor welcomed guests at this week’s event and says the doors officially open to the public on May 13. Bookings are now available on URBNSURF’s website.

“Our partners, Rip Curl, Applejack Hospitality, and Sydney Olympic Park Authority were among the guests,” wrote URBNSURF in a social media post. “On the performance side, we were thrilled to see Owen Wright, Milla Brown, Summa Longbottom, Dylan Moffat, and Blakey Johnston amidst a fleet of surfers from all levels, surfing through a series of wave settings from Beginner in The Bays to Expert Beast mode Barrels.”

According to their press release, the park features, “a Surf Academy, a leisure swimming pool, a skate pad, a Rip Curl retail store, a health and wellness center and two food offerings by Applejack, RAFI URBNSURF and Sandy’s.”

Previously, officials with URBNSURF told Surf Park Central that the pandemic, supply issues and weather were all factors in the fight to complete the park.

URBNSURF uses Wavegarden wave technology and can create 400 waves per hour. The company is now the only brand to develop and operate two surf parks in the world.
