Press Release from Aventuur:
Construction of the Perth Surf Park, the largest private tourism infrastructure project in WA in 25 years, is now underway.

The project’s groundbreaking provides long-awaited certainty that the iconic destination is now a reality, marking a major milestone for WA tourism, Perth surfers, and the broader WA community.
Delivered by global surf park developer and operator Aventuur, the Perth Surf Park will provide a world-class surf, leisure and wellbeing destination for Perth, with first waves expected in Spring 2027, ahead of public opening in late 2027.
The heart of the precinct is a 62-module Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon – equal largest of its kind in the world – capable of delivering consistent, high-quality waves for everyone in a safe, controlled environment.
A surfing members’ clubhouse, high-performance surf academy, RCVRI wellness studio, Rip Curl flagship store, equipment rental centre, outdoor training facilities, and skate park will complement the surfing lagoon.

A beach club, restaurant and bar, café, rooftop accommodation and community events lawn will offer coastal-inspired hospitality and experiences for Perth surfers, Western Australian families, and visitors to the State. The Perth Surf Park’s exciting amenity mix is expected to drive over 1 million visits annually.
Located in Jandakot, adjacent to the Kwinana Freeway and the Cockburn Central Train Station, the Perth Surf Park will be one of the most significant community assets delivered in the State in a generation.
Aventuur Chair and Chief Development Officer, Andrew Ross, said commencing construction marks a defining moment for the project.
“Today marks a significant milestone for the Perth Surf Park, and for everyone who has been part of the journey,” he said.
“With the support of our investors RAC and Wyllie, our debt funding parter NAB, the WA Government, the City of Cockburn, and our broader community, we are delighted to have commenced construction.
“For Perth, this is about delivering a truly special community asset that embodies our surfing history, culture, and coastal lifestyle – a destination that is by the West, for the West.”
Surfers are now invited to join a waitlist to be first to access foundational memberships to the park, offering early and exclusive benefits.

“Our foundation members will gain unparalleled access to the Perth Surf Park, including unique pre-opening experiences (including surfing first waves with us in Spring 2027), as well as priority access to experiences, discounted surf and wellbeing sessions, and a dedicated members’ clubhouse – comprising a lounge and bar, outdoor deck, training areas and board storage facilities,” Mr Ross said.
WA’s Deputy Premier, Treasurer, and the Minister for Sport and Recreation, the Hon. Rita Saffioti, said the Perth Surf Park would be a major drawcard for the State.
“The Perth Surf Park has been a long-anticipated project, and it is fantastic to see construction now underway.
“This exciting new destination will create local jobs, boost the Western Australian economy, and deliver a new state-of-the-art sport and recreation facility that will enable our athletes to be more competitive on the world stage.
“At the same time, it will provide a safe, controlled environment for local residents and families to surf and stay active, that is easily accessible through our world-class public transport network.”
WA’s Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Reece Whitby MLA, said the compelling destination will enhance the State’s tourism offering.
“The Perth Surf Park will add a globally recognisable attraction to Western Australia’s tourism portfolio and help attract interstate and international visitors, encourage longer stays, and showcase our unique lifestyle and surfing culture.”
Aventuur Director of Surf and Sustainability and Surfing Australia Chair, Adrian “Ace” Buchan, said the Perth Surf Park will set a new global benchmark for surf park experiences.
“Western Australian surfers are some of the most passionate in the world, and this destination will provide convenient access to world-class waves day and night, year-round.
“The Perth Surf Park will feature one of the largest and most advanced surfing lagoons of anywhere in the world,” he said.
“The consistent quality and diversity of waves that can be created will allow everyone to surf more often, progress faster, and share memorable experiences in an inclusive environment.”
Surfing WA CEO, Mark Lane, said the Perth Surf Park would be a game-changer for the sport and surfing communities.
“It will complement our natural coastline, reduce pressure on crowded breaks, and create new opportunities for participation and athlete development right on Perth’s doorstep,” he said.
The Perth Surf Park will create more than 280 jobs during construction and around 100 full-time positions once operational. It is expected to deliver a gross economic contribution of more than $300 million to the Western Australian economy during its operating life.
