Tom Lochtefeld, renowned innovator and leading manufacturer of artificial waves commits to a breakthrough surf-pool design more than 25-years in the making

SAN DIEGO – Wave Loch founder Tom Lochtefeld, the world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of artificial wave technology, announced the launch of his new Wave Loch SurfPool™ division today, one day after selling his groundbreaking FlowRider® sheet-wave and its IP technology to WhiteWater West Industries, the preeminent water park design and attraction company based in Vancouver, Canada.

Lochtefeld, a longtime surfer, sold his dominant sheet-wave business for an undisclosed sum in order to focus entirely on his new wave pool design that’s been more than 25 years in the making. “Looking back on it now, the amazing success of the FlowRider® caught me completely by surprise,” says Lochtefeld. “I never imagined we’d be selling hundreds of them all over the world, and to such a wide spectrum of customers who’ve enjoyed wild success with their investments. Over the past decade, these same customers helped me determine what the essentials are for any next-generation surf pool. Truth be told, surf pools really haven’t evolved much in the past 40 years. And I’ve spent the past 25 studying, innovating, and testing new technologies. Moreover, I didn’t want to go near this space without a game-changing product that would move the needle for both surfers and businesses. My new design does both. It’s a major breakthrough.”

Lochtefeld says the Wave Loch SurfPool™ will be the most efficient, powerful, and profitable wave on the market. Testing has already commenced in the company’s top secret facility, and they already have firm commitments to build new SurfPools, with the promise of many more to come.

In addition, Wave Loch retains its popular FlowBarrel® sheet-wave, along with the Wave House® venue brand, and new Wave House venues will be bolstered by the addition of the Wave Loch SurfPool™.

Wave Loch customers will still be able to access information about the FlowRider®, Flow House® venue brand, and the entire portfolio of Wave Lochs’ sheet-wave technology at waveloch.com.  FlowRider® customers and the Flowboarding community will be pleased to know that Wave Loch’s top-notch FlowRider® professional sales and service team have transitioned to WhiteWater, and will continue to support the product.
