Zion Shores has officially reached a defining milestone: the Foundation Ceremony, marking the completion of the groundwork phase and the beginning of full-scale vertical construction. While most projects celebrate breaking ground, this event represented something even more meaningful: the moment the final shovels of earth were turned, with concrete scheduled to pour the very next day. The vision is no longer conceptual. It is rising. The ceremony took place on the future site of the PerfectSwell surf lagoon, set against a bright and sunny Utah backdrop. Around 150 guests attended, including key partners, contributors, local officials, builders, designers, and members of the community who have been part of the Zion Shores journey from early on.
AN EXCEPTIONAL GATHERING OF PARTNERS
The event brought together an impressive lineup of collaborators whose work is shaping Zion Shores into a world-class destination. Notable attendees included:
- American Wave Machines / PerfectSwell
- City officials from Washington, UT
- Ember Homes
- Immaculate Homes (also partners on Southern Shores)
- UNIT Surf Pool
- Engineers, architects, and design firms such as AE Urbia, Cloward H2O, and Landworks
- Representatives from development, construction, funding, and project management teams
Project owner Cody Larkin delivered an emotional and forward-looking speech that captured the shared belief held by everyone involved: Zion Shores is on track to become a truly one-of-a-kind surf resort, built on trust, capability, and exceptional collaboration.
WHY ZION MATTERS TO UNIT
The Zion Shores project represents a significant milestone for UNIT Surf Pool and builds on a partnership that began over five years ago. What started when the team behind Zion – Brittany, Jason and Cody – first surfed a UNIT wave in Milan eventually grew into Southern Shores, a project that became a rare example in the artificial surf landscape of a development that not only stayed on schedule but exceeded expectations.
That experience established a level of trust that now extends into Zion Shores, where UNIT Surf Pool will deliver both:
- An 18-meter UNIT Standing Wave, and
- The world’s first 50-meter UNIT Dynamic Wave
The Dynamic Wave is our newest and largest innovation. A leap forward in artificial wave technology and Zion Shores will be the first place in the world to feature it. For our team, this installation marks an evolution in what artificial surfing can be and showcases what is possible when strong partners align around a shared vision.
A PERFECT WAY TO END THE DAY
After the ceremony, several attendees made the short trip to Southern Shores to surf our 16-meter UNIT Standing Wave. It was a fitting end to the celebration connecting where the partnership began with where it is headed next.
The stoke was high and the excitement for Zion Shores only grew stronger.
A NEW ERA BEGINS
The Foundation Ceremony wasn’t just a symbolic event. It marked the moment Zion Shores transitioned from vision to reality. With groundwork complete and vertical construction underway, the world’s premier in-land surf resort is now actively taking shape.
