Surf’s Up In Northern California As Alchemy Surf Resort Earns Key Approval

Press Release from Alchemy Surf:

Alchemy Surf Resort (ASR), a proposed surf, hospitality and recreation destination in west Placer County, received unanimous approval today from the Placer County Planning Commission, clearing a major entitlement milestone for the project.

Planned within the Placer One development north of Roseville, ASR will be anchored by a five-acre WAVEGARDEN® Cove surf lagoon and bring together year-round surfing,  a boutique hotel and bungalows, dining, wellness, action sports, and community programming.

“Today’s approval is a defining milestone for Alchemy Surf Resort,” said Chris  Gallardo, Founder and Managing Partner of Inland Surf Company and ASR. “We’re grateful to Placer County, our project team and the many community partners who helped move this vision forward. We look forward to delivering a landmark destination  that brings year-round surfing, hospitality, wellness, jobs and tourism to Placer County  and the wider Greater Sacramento region”

Designed as a destination for surfers and non-surfers alike, ASR will make surfing more accessible to families, athletes and communities throughout Northern California. Plans also envision youth and high school surf programs, adaptive and para-surfing,  competitions, community events and partnerships with schools and organizations throughout the region.

The project will become part of the broader Placer One community and the continued growth occurring along the Highway 65 corridor.

“Alchemy Surf Resort represents another step in the development of the Placer One area and adds a new recreational and hospitality use to the mix of uses planned for west Placer,” Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule said in a statement.  “The project has gone through the county’s planning and review process, and the  approved plans provide a framework for the applicant to provide a unique recreational  destination business to the community.”

“Receiving unanimous approval from Placer County is a defining milestone for Alchemy and the culmination of years of work by our team, partners, and supporters. As independent, first-time surf park developers, we’re incredibly proud of how far the project has come and excited to move into the next phase of design, financing, and pre-construction as we work toward bringing a world-class surf destination to Northern California,” added Chris & Andrea Gallardo, Co-Founders & Managing Partners, Alchemy Surf Resort.

With Planning Commission approval secured, the Alchemy team will now advance design, financing and pre-construction activities, with construction targeted to begin in late-spring of 2027 and an approximately 18–24 month construction period.
