Thank you for the incredible weekend! The 2024 German Surf Championships presented by Stanley, which took place from October 11th to 13th at our O 2 SURFTOWN MUC, made sports history – and for the first time on German soil! Over 10,000 spectators saw Germany’s best surfers in action on site, while thousands of fans followed the finals via Sportschau and YouTube.
In the various competition classes, the participants impressively demonstrated how Germany is establishing itself as a serious surfing nation. The historic competition showed that Munich is an exciting surfing hotspot and is setting new standards.
Camilla Kemp crowned German Champion 2024
A very special highlight was the performance of Camilla Kemp, Germany’s first Olympic surfer. She prevailed in an exciting final and secured the title of German Champion 2024. Camilla, who is passionate about supporting young surfers, shows that the O 2 SURFTOWN MUC is the perfect training facility for future surf stars.
Leon Glatzer: Triumph in the Open Men Shortboard category
The men’s competition was no less exciting. Leon Glatzer and Tim Elter went head-to-head in the hotly contested Open Men Shortboard category. Leon narrowly prevailed and won the title of German Champion 2024.
A sign for the future of surfing
The German Championships not only offered spectacular action at the highest level, but also sent an important signal: inclusion is a top priority! With the world’s first integration of para-surfing, stand-up paddling and longboarding in a wave pool, it was shown that surfing can really be accessible to everyone.
