Surf Snowdonia Update – Wavegarden Repair
We had a rather wet Christmas here at Surf Snowdonia, as the banks of the River Conwy broke on Boxing Day resulting in quite a bit of flooding onsite. Luckily, apart from a few floating shipping containers, no real damage was caused. These were the worst floods the village of Dolgarrog has seen in more than 60 years, but thankfully our bund stopped the water coming anywhere near our buildings. More good news on the Surf Snowdonia Update is that the wave generating motor is on schedule to be back in place at the end of this month, meaning we’ll see the lagoon full again come February.
Giant Inflatable SUP Experiences for 2016
We have something new and exciting to offer you all this year… two giant 10 man S.U.P (stand up paddle) boards! These will be used in instructor led group sessions and will give everyone, of all abilities, the chance to experience riding our Advanced Wave in a thrilling, fun and safe group activity. Group S.U.P boards were made famous in Hawaii, and used to get people to experience giant waves regardless of skill level (as well as surfers having some great fun!). We recommend adding this activity to a Crash and Splash session to give a truly Epic day.
About Surf Snowdonia
Picture this. A perfect lozenge-shaped fresh-water lagoon, roughly the size of six football pitches, set in the lush, green Conwy Valley in the lee of the Snowdonia mountains. Breathe it in. It’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s wild and it’s beautiful. Now add something entirely unexpected. A powerful two-metre wave that rises at the centre of the lagoon, peels perfectly for more than 150 metres, and dissipates softly as it hits the shore.
Welcome to the Surf Snowdonia Wavegarden®: a revolutionary world-first inland surf lagoon and the UK’s most compelling outdoor adventure destination for you, your friends and the whole family to enjoy. But the awe-inspiring Wavegarden isn’t the only reason to come to Surf Snowdonia. You’re going to love our totally addictive Crash & Splash water-based obstacle lagoon – and ‘blobbing’ – as well as our surf-side café bar, coffee shops and retail space. And our 50-metre glass-fronted viewing gallery will let you get right up close to the surf action without even getting wet!
Please note, Surf Snowdonia will be closed until Spring 2016. For more information visit SurfSnowdonia.co.uk
