Another Surf Park Planned for the UK Seeks Investors

The explosion of surf parks in Europe continues. Now another new destination is heading for the UK. Most recently, Lost Shore Surf Resort opened in Edinburgh. Now, a new development south of there in Dorset is seeking investors.

The project from W.H. White located at Brocks Pine has not officially announced its wave technology but shared renderings featuring Wavegarden and Endless Surf.

Learn more about the development from their press release:

We’re thrilled to share that after two years of planning, developer W. H. White has secured planning permission for a new surf park on the English south coast, in Dorset at a site known as Brocks Pine along the A31. The site is just 8 miles from Bournemouth and within 90 minute drive from London’s Heathrow Airport, Oxford, Southampton, Reading, Portsmouth, and Winchester.

W. H. White is now seeking interest from Investors/Operators to deliver this once in a generation opportunity for a world class surf park on the UK’s south coast, on 20 acres of land with permission for a Surfing Lagoon, a 2,500 sqm reception building of up to 10m ridge height, alongside a 380 space car park.

The wave technology for Brocks Pine surf park has not been selected allowing any investor/operator to choose their preferred option.

The proposals are supported by Surfing England and will cement Bournemouth’s reputation as a surf destination. Surfing started here in the 1960s, giving Bournemouth the title of the “California of the South Coast”. The quality of the surf at Bournemouth and the surrounding bays attracts visitors from across the UK. With a resident surf community, a rich heritage of water sports and tourism. We believe this is an ideal location for people looking for an ever more diverse range of attractions. Dorset is the perfect choice for the UK’s next Surf Park both in terms of location and accessibility.

The consented surf park sits alongside a new 34 acre country park, adding to the established Avon Heath Country park, which provides a dual function of providing local people with natural, biodiversity rich open space and walking routes, as well as helping to protect Dorset’s internationally recognised heathlands. Avon Heath Country Park currently attracts 450,000+ visitors per annum and delivers substantial education, health and wellbeing benefits, enabling local residents and visitors to lead more active lifestyles and encourage more time spent in nature.

Planning permission was issued by the UK Government’s Planning Inspectorate in February 2024, following a formal planning inquiry in 2023. This was a significant step in securing the principle of development for a brand new surf lagoon at Brocks Pine.

With the principle of the Surf Park secured, W. H. White are now seeking an Operating Partner / Investor to help bring forward this unique and generational opportunity on England’s south coast.
