Surf park developer Aventuur has officially broken ground on their New Zealand destination.

Auckland Surf Park is designed with sustainability and community in mind. At the event to celebrate the start of construction, the team was joined by members of Ngāti Whātua and Ngāti Manuhiri.
“Led by Renata Blair, the whānau members performed karakia (ancient Māori incantations used to connect with the spiritual world and ancestors) to seek protection for people working on the land during construction, and for all those who visit the Auckland Surf Park community in the future,” Aventuur shared on a social media post that included a video.
The video shows the ceremony and shares interviews with both developers and those in the community.
Auckland Surf Park in Dairy Flat is looking to open sometime in 2027. The project includes a solar farm and will use the excess heat to keep the surf lagoon heated. The project also includes a Wavegarden Cove pool, food and beverage destinations, a wellness center, retail, a hotel and several eco-cabins.
