Citywave Osnabrück Opens in Northern Germany

Surf inside at L&T Osnabrück in Northern Germany- One of the most innovative designs ever.

March 5th, 2018. On March 1st Citywave Osnabrück opened their doors inside of the most innovative sports store in Europe. Lengermann und Trieschmann Osnabrück or (L&T Osnabrück), now has a unique surfing and shopping experience indoors. This is Citywave’s second indoor wave machine in Germany following their success with Citywave Munich.

This wave machine technology is different than the typical surfing experience that is created with other surf parks. Citywave creates stationary waves that are great for improving basic surfing techniques. Cutbacks, carves, hacks, and rail to rail work are all skills that are transitional from here to the ocean. The deep water machine allows surfers to ride the same boards that they would use in the ocean. Citywave Osnabrück is Northern Germany’s new spot to shop and watch some of Europe’s best stationary wave surfers like Janina Zeitler do their thing.

As you can see from the above video the design is modern, simple and functional. These wave machines and standing waves are able to be constructed in small spaces and obviously work in unconventional locations. Although this is a different style of surfing, it’s panning out to be a chapter in the future of surfing and man-made waves. Less expensive than building a Wavegarden or KSWC design, we don’t see any reason why people won’t start putting these in their backyards, or at least in their hometowns.

Or maybe they might opt for the Unit Surf Pool in order to save water.

Book a session at Citywave Osnabrück here.
