BIO
Dr. Jess Ponting is the world’s leading academic in the area of surf tourism research. Dr. Ponting is an Associate Professor as well as Founder & Director of the San Diego State University Center for Surf Research. He has lived and worked in five countries, consulted for major organizations including the United Nations, the World Trade Organization’s International Trade Center, Conservation International, and the Inter-American Development Bank. Jess has provided surf tourism policy advice to governments in five countries and is currently producing the first academic research on the development of the surf park industry. He co-founded Surf Park Summit, STOKE Certified (a surf tourism sustainability certification), and Surf Park Solutions.
