With the official start of summer just weeks away, travelers are gearing up for new vacation destinations—and increasingly, those stops could include surf parks. Across the U.S., surf-anchored real estate developments are making waves with exciting new project milestones.
Here’s a look at several major projects taking big steps forward:
Jacksonville Surf Park

Aventuur and its Florida-based investors have finalized the purchase of 45 acres in eTown, a master-planned community, for the company’s first U.S. surf park. Powered by Wavegarden technology, Jacksonville Surf Park will serve as a major anchor for the area.
According to local media, construction is slated to begin early next year, with an opening targeted for early 2028.
A press release called the project “a major milestone in [Aventuur’s] programmatic rollout of mixed-use surf, leisure, and wellbeing destinations across North America.”
DSRT Surf

The summer temperatures are heating up in the California desert, but that’s not slowing down progress on DSRT Surf.
A recent social media post says construction continues on the site in Palm Desert. A team from Wavegarden is on site helping to construct the centerpiece wave lagoon. Progress is also being made on the development’s 57 villas, some of which will offer surfing access in the front and golf in the back.
The project from Beach Street Holdings is just one of multiple projects underway in the U.S. Their Virginia Beach destination, Atlantic Park, is expected to open by July. An update about their third surf-anchored project in Texas, HTX Surf, is expected soon.
Neptune Surf Club

More waves are heading to the Golden State. Neptune Surf Club, located in Alameda, a city in the Bay Area, is now in the early stages of progress.
The project comes from William Duncanson, an architect with BAR Architects, who has worked within the surf park industry and spoken at past Surf Park Summit events.
According to Surfer, the project has an estimated price tag of $50 million and hopes to open by 2029. Endless Surf’s technology will power the waves.
