It’s hard to believe this is Jamie O’Brien’s first time to The Surf Ranch. You’d think one of the best Pipeline surfers of all time would have already gotten an invite, but apparently not. According to O’Brien, this trip transpired after he was invited to surprise a group of high-school kids, who were in Lemoore for the day celebrating their recent graduation.
Being the best surfer in the group (by a mile), O’Brien was gifted about two dozen rides, which is a lot at The Surf Ranch, a wave that stretches nearly 700 yards. Talk about an exhausting day of surfing.
In return, O’Brien dedicated this entire YouTube episode to the day, and also pulled off the most impressive feat we’ve seen out of The Ranch thus far: A legit, tandem tube with the young daughter of the Dad that setup the surprise. It’s the type of tube that only the best barrel rider on earth could pull off, and it’s something this young woman will remember for the rest of her life.
