2024 will be remembered as a pivotal year in the surf park industry. The world of surf-anchored real estate exploded this year, with more parks opening for operation than ever before. Also, the list of projects getting underway is a testament to the potential power of this industry. Here’s a look at the latest headlines making waves in the industry.

Lost Shore Set to Open Next Week

Lost Shore Surf Resort, the highly anticipated surf park in Scotland, says it will open its doors to the public on Monday, November 11. According to the park, Lost Shore will be the largest island surfing destination in all of Europe. On social media, they celebrated the massive economic impact the destination will have, saying, “We’re proud to be a game-changer for Scottish tourism, with an expected 160,000 visitors annually, creating 130 jobs and contributing £11m to the local economy each year.”

New Details on the Austin Surf Club

More waves are heading to the Lone Star State. The Austin Surf Club, which sits just outside the city of Austin, TX, has a new development in the works. According to the Austin Business Journal, a partnership between Arizona-based Discovery Land Co. and Kelly Slater is building the surf-anchored development that will include condos. The site is the former home of NLand Surf, which closed permanently more than five years ago. You won’t find too many details on the project’s official website, and developers told the media it’s too early to share too many details.

Aventuur Partners With an Autism Charity to Bring Surfing to More People

Aventuur says its project in Perth, Australia, will have a special partnership with an organization called Ocean Heroes.

Ocean Heroes focused on the “delivery of autistic, neurodivergent and adaptive surfing programs in Western Australia.” They will work closely with the Perth Surf Park developers to make accessible amenities and develop surfing programs for autistic, neurodivergent and adaptive surfers.

“Our partnership with Ocean Heroes embodies our commitment to making surfing more accessible, and to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of all West Australians,” said Aventuur Chairman and Chief Development Officer, Andrew Ross.

Construction Begins in Bahrain

Local media in the Middle East says work has begun on the new surf park in Bahrain. Craig Stoddart, former CEO of The Wave, is a big part of the project. Details were announced early last month. Officially called, Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience, the finished project is expected to open early in 2026.
