Teaser version of Skip Taylor’s presentation at Surf Park Summit 2 on September 7, 2016. Skip is an Experience Creator at Replay Resorts. Through the 60’s and 70’s, groups of passionate skiers launched hundreds of ski hill operations through N. America based on a classic model of a few lifts, restaurants and a retail & rental store. This model then evolved through the 80’s and 90’s to reach beyond the “up-hill transportation business” creating both a better business model and a better experience for resort guests. Replay’s leadership team helped forge the modern day “resort” business model that creates long term success through maximizing operating revenue, building strategic brand positioning, animating resorts through events and programmings along side scaled resort development. As surfing enters the gated attraction business, let’s take a look into key considerations for successful surf resort operations.
Mark ‘Skip’ Taylor is an alum of renowned IMG and once part of that U.S. based company’s senior management team. Skip is an accomplished action-sport, lifestyle, event and entertainment planner, stager and New Media producer. His many skills include an integrated approach to concept development, rights management, copyright and trademark protection, contract negotiation, budgeting and staffing. He has created and managed event platforms for a client list that includes Molson-Coors, Future Shop, Dodge, McDonalds, L’Oreal, Party Poker, Surfer Magazine, Coke, Nissan, Audi, Nike, Nintendo, Nokia, Billabong and Lululemon. Skip is an action sport athlete himself and a sports philanthropist supporting the Surfrider and Surfaid Foundation with both financial and time contributions.
