Surf’s Up in Arizona: Cannon Beach Prepares for Spring 2024 Opening

By Surf Park Central

As Arizona emerges from the longest and most intense heatwave in its history, some relief from the heat is set to open in spring 2024. Revel Surf’s Cannon Beach will follow in the footsteps of the first surf park ever built in the US, Big Surf in Tempe Arizona. Big Surf opened 54 years ago after extensive testing by reigning world champion Fred Hemmings.

The Revel Surf surf park is the first park to be powered by a brand new electro-mechanical wave generation technology developed by Swell MFG. Surf park enthusiasts will have seen video evidence of spitting barrels surfed by Shane Beshen, world championship tour runner up in 1996 and partner in Revel Surf and Swell MFG, and his aerialist savant son, Noah.
