Albee Layer has been one of the best aerialists in surfing ever since he learned how to blow tail. Here’s an insane edit from Stab Mag of some of the best above-the-lip surfers in the world destroying the BSR pool.

May 20, 2018. Two weeks ago BSR Surf Resort revealed their new wave pool to the world and the surf community around the world had a collective freak out. The first clip was of a three wave set rolling through in the form of a right-hander with not a soul on it. Within forty-eight hours from that first clip, Jamie O’Brien and Ben Gravy dropped Vlogs of themselves and a handful of others putting the Waco wave pool through its rounds. The clips start out far from standard. Crazy turns, barrels and then about half way through watching Seth Moniz does a lofty backflip, or 540 (there’s much debate on this). After the media guys finally lifted their jaws back up from the floors of their offices in California, Hawaii, and Australia they started making calls and putting together filmers, photogs, and surfers.
Stab Magazine out of Australia acted quickly and got a handful of guys on flights headed to Texas.
When you have guys flying in from Hawaii, surfing a wave pool in the middle of America and then saying that they just had one of the most or, the most fun sessions of their lives you know you’ve broken new ground and changed things forever. The pool, made by American Wave Machines provides unlimited and identical waves on demand. Cheyne Magnusson said it best, “we’ve finally made a surf ramp just like skaters.”
The following edit from Stab Mag is mind-blowing. Before the PerfectSwell™ pool there was aerial surfing. Now, with the PerfectSwell™ pool there will be aerial progression beyond our expectations. These guys only surfed for about five hours and were already stomping moves that they’ve never even been able to try in the ocean.
Thanks, American Wave Machines, and thanks, Stab Mag for getting these guys in the pool.
This isn’t it either. Many pros have already stopped by and many more will. Stay tuned to see Kai Lenny have a go at the Waco wave pool soon.
