Is This The Most Diverse Wavepool In The World?

URBNSURF in Melbourne is an actual aquatic playground

Watch this 4-minute clip from URBNSURF in Melbourne, Australia, and then ask yourself: Is this not the most fun-looking artificial wave in the world?

This clip was shot during the “commissioning phase” of the project, when Mitch Crews, Reef Heazlewood, Chippa Wilson, Ryan Callinan, Dion Agius and a few others spent a day fine tuning the Wavegarden Cove tech. With the push of a button, they switched between left and right slabs, walls and air sections. Wilson stuck a wild front-shuv. Agius punted a massive full-rote. Callinan ripped the bag out of multiple left bowls.

For the everyday surfer (see: 90% of us), this clip represents everything we could hope for in an artificial world. And sure, there’s still room for improvement, but honestly: Who wouldn’t want to spend a day here? What more could you ask for?
